Global Mikivus Project

At a time not too long ago, I turned to rideshare driving when it was more of a necessity than it was a choice. Not too surprisingly, though, I discovered I actually really enjoyed it. You see, travel has always been a constant in my life, whether for business or pleasure, and I enjoy experiencing new cities and new cultures. And what struck me while ridesharing was realizing just how cosmopolitan St. Louis truly is—and instead of being the traveler, I found that people from all over St. Louis, the country, and all corners of the world were now the ones visiting me. This revelation served as the inspiration for my Global Mikivus Project. Although the initial necessity that led me to become a driver no longer exists, I resumed driving to pursue this photo project. It’s my way of celebrating this unique, albeit brief, connection to people from all parts of the city, country, and globe.

Each person you will encounter on the following pages graciously accepted an invitation to be a part of this project and have their photo taken at the end of their ride. My hope is that through these small, personal glimpses, people can broaden their understanding and perception of St. Louis and recognize our undeniable interconnectedness with those around us, both near and far.
